PDA designer Sarah Sandman organized a community bike ride in Providence, RI to encourage voter participation. By traveling a route designed to spell out our message, we engaged in a form of
collaborative communication.
The ride went through the East Side, Downtown and the South Side uniting three distinct neighborhoods. The mayor, David Cicilline, happened to be riding by and decided to ride with us. In the Southside, onlookers hollered in support from their porches. Two weeks later, Jill Peterson organized the second Bike Write, spelling
the word “Hope”. This ride covered neighborhoods not covered in the first ride. Several cyclists that were out riding recreationally that day decided to change their route and join us.
